COUTURE DOLLY CAKES

Rodarte!

So it's birthday time at Who What Wear, and I helped their most awesome intern, my sister, put together another couture dolly cake. The most recent runway obsession with the stylish who what wear girls is the tribal tatooed, greased up, draped up look of Rodarte. I love making these cakes because they are the perfect collaboration of my sister and my talents. Amanda tatted our doll, adding a realistic touch with the sharpie lip stick. I hunted down the decorations and came up with the marbled stripe idea to mimic the gauzy plaid shirt. We both styled her hair with black icing, adding the perfect amount of grease and depth, mimicking the slick, wet look of the runway's models. Too bad we couldn't find a doll with an ambivalent scowl. Enjoy!

This is fantastic. My 7yo noted that "Barbies don't usually have tattoos" and now wants to google "Barbies with tattoos." Thanks for sharing, I think.

Haha, that's adorable. I think the tattoos are my favorite part! The best/creepiest realistic barbies with style are Japanese Momoko dolls: http://www.momokodoll.com/en/lineup/lineup_2007sp.php

Just checked out the Momoko dolls. They are very cool. I know someone who would definitely like that for Christmas. Thanks!
